LIZARDS ARE POISONOUS

Arindam: - Hello viewers! You are watching the show ‘JAGRATA JANATA’ in your favorite Royal Bengal Tiger (RBT) TV Channel. Today, in this episode, we are in a remote village of Udaipur in Tripura. Udaipur is around 12 Km from the Agartala, the capital of Tripura. Tripura is a state, where people can speak both Bengali and Assamese. This is a very small state, but has its own uniqueness; after all, it is the state of Sachin Dev Burman and Rahul Dev Burman. Anyway, we are now going to meet the ‘JAGRATA JANATA’ of Udaipur. His name is Tulu Tarsi. Tulu has saved around 500 lives. Let us find out how he has done that.

Tulu: - Saab, I work in the Malancha Caterer. My role is to serve the foods to all the guests in any festive occasion. Now, I have lost my job. Binod Barua, the owner of Malancha Caterer has terminated my job.

Arindam: - Oho! That is so sad. But, why you have been kicked out from Malancha Caterer? You may have done something wrong.

Tulu: - at present, the tribal king of Udaipur is Bheeku Chakma. Every year, during this time, there is a ritual of performing Maa Chamunda Puja. Earlier, humans were slaughtered in front of the goddess, but now, they slaughter the goats only. ‘Naroboli’ has been banned by the Tripura Government. On the last day of this festival, all the tribal people of this Udaipur village organize a grand feast. This time, the Malancha Caterer got the assignment of this feast.

Arindam: - Aaah…you are telling Mahabharata to us. Come to the main point, boss. Viewers are not interested in all these details. Tell us about your achievements in brief. It will increase our TRP ratings.

Tulu: - You want to enter the Temple without touching your feet on the staircases. It is very funny indeed. Anyway, let me tell you the main thing. Last night, we were cooking Goat’s meat curry inside a tent. The cooking was over. We kept all the big trays side by side. No one noticed that a lizard has fallen into that meat curry, when it was getting cooked. I saw the cooked lizard in that meat curry. I told all my colleagues not to serve this goat’s meat curry to anyone.

Arindam: - I have heard that Chinese people eat the meat of Lizards, Cockroaches, Cats and other reptiles. So, what is wrong if a lizard has fallen into the mutton curry?

Tulu: - Last year only, I was working in Jagdamba caterer of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. There, in a wedding party, a similar thing happened. A lizard fell into the chicken curry. We just ignored that thing. We removed the lizard from that curry and served it to all the guests. Out of around 185 guests, 53 people died and 89 people were hospitalized due to food poisoning. Those who understood that food poisoning have taken place; they are the luckier ones only. On the next day, they made a check-up at the hospital. Many people are still unaware of the fact, that the skin of lizard has poison in it. When a lizard’s body gets wet, it secretes a chemical which is deadly. Lizard is a peaceful animal, but if a lizard falls on your skin from the wall, then it creates rashes on that portion of your skin. Last night, I did not take any chance. I announced publicly to all the villagers that a lizard has fallen in the mutton curry. So, better eat only the vegetarian dishes. Bheeku Chakma thought it otherwise. He started boasting at Binod Barua, for our callous attitude while cooking the foods. What is our fault? Our clients never give us a good and healthy environment to cook. If they provide us a dirty place, where we have to cook food, then automatically the cooked food will be unhygienic. At least, this year, I have saved many lives.
